Today I signed up for Camp NaNoWriMo. Yes, you heard me. I signed up for another NaNoWriMo challenge while in the middle of a NaNoWriMo challenge (wait… what?).
For those of you who haven’t heard of Camp NaNoWriMo, it’s exactly like the regular NaNoWriMo except in June and August. This will be my first year trying it and I’m not sure if I’ll do both months or just one. I will try to complete at least one month, though. NaNoWriMo has helped me write creatively every day. Even though what I’m writing isn’t the best, I’m happy enough to be able to say I’m writing something other than non-fiction. NaNoWriMo gives me an excuse to post about my progress on social media and here. When I don’t want to annoy my friends and followers, I can head on over to the forums to chat with other WriMos. All that contact and support helps keep me motivated even when my plot is lagging.
I’m writing a novel. I’m really doing it. Writing a novel is something I crave, which is odd because I’ve never been that writer who “has to write.” But once in a while, I get the urge to write a full-blown novel. I write or a couple days, then get distracted or frustrated or bored and I stop. I can’t tell you how many unfinished novels are stashed away on my computer.
So I joined Camp NaNoWriMo so I can finally finish those novels.
Here’s hoping it works.
